Female engineering at Eurocomach

The face of Annapaola, mechanical designer of the Eurocomach team, immediately catches the attention of those who walk through the technical office on the ground floor. Among the many male faces, hers and those of her two colleagues emerge strongly and leave room for a clear, but not obvious message: engineering has a female component here at Sampierana.

We asked her to tell us her story, her journey and what it means, today, to work in a sector still perceived as distant from the world of women.

Tell us about your studies. You told me you graduated in Mechanical Engineering right? Where did you study?

Yes, I am a mechanical engineer and I studied in Lecce. I was already working in Brindisi as a mechanical engineer in the aeronautical sector, but out of love I came here. And I was lucky enough to meet Sampierana.

How did your adventure in Sampierana begin? Did you find a job advertisement?

My partner works here in the area and I was looking for employment in the area to join her. I found Sampierana’s ad on Linkedin and sent in my application. It was a few days before I received a call and, when I had my interview, they explained that they were surprised that I had chosen the location in San Piero. They would have rather expected me to apply for the Lecce office.

How difficult was the interview?

No, it was not complex for me. I really appreciated the informal environment that was created already during the selection phase thanks to the HR team and the head of the technical team. I did not perceive the usual barrier between manager and candidate and that impressed me positively.

When you arrived, did you fit the role?

Yes absolutely. The search was for mechanical designer, I was really interested in starting to design and make something of my own. However, I asked my managers and the team in general to continue supporting me in horizontal training. It is important for me to continue branching out.

What specifically does your work consist of?

The technical team and I are totally dedicated to the design of the machines, taking care of every aspect, from the simple basic idea to the fine-tuning of the more complex details such as brackets, quick couplings, motor mounts and so on. Every day we face different challenges and the range of areas that come together in an idea means that we are always learning something new. What I have appreciated the most so far has been the opportunity to be involved in new projects, being given concrete responsibilities right from the start. I believe that a person really gives his best when he feels responsible for his work and actively contributes to its success.

What would you recommend to a woman who wants to follow your path?

Basically, I always wish for people to do what they love. As mentioned, my driving force has always been my curiosity as well as my desire to dispel the common myth that engineering is just ‘man’s stuff’. Engineering is, like any other discipline, a field accessible to anyone, regardless of gender. You just need to have a strong passion for it.

GDG Eurocomach

The voice of Eurocomach: history of our dealer #GDG

Our dealers are the voice of Eurocomach and we went to collect their testimonies, starting from Brandizzo, where we met Dario, owner of GDG srl. GDG srl specializes in the sale and servicing of earthmoving machinery and, since 2019, has been one of our leading dealers, which has enabled Eurocomach to become increasingly well-known in the Turin area.

The meeting with Eurocomach

I got to know Eurocomach in the summer of 2019 following a leisure trip to Germany, at the time I was selling a lot of competitor machines but I was looking for a product in the compact range that was top of the range..”

Dario is struck by a not-inconsiderable detail: the German market, which is much more demanding than the Italian one, seems to seem to acknowledge Eurocomach’s quality.

I was very impressed by the fact that the machines were much more popular in Germany than here in Italy because the German market is very demanding and requires very high standards, at which point I realised that the machines were really top notch.

Strengths

The discovery of machines and their strengths has enabled GDG to offer a quality, state-of-the-art product to its customers, such as the 90ZT. There are numerous models of this type operating in the area and the problems encountered are minimal.

We asked Dario what, in his opinion, are the strengths of Eurocomach machines. Compactness, power, construction features, quality, and state-of-the-art technology are the keywords that led GDG to focus on our brand.

“Compactness, power, construction features, quality and cutting-edge technology” are the key words that led GDG to focus on our brand.

Customer feedback

Dario’s strategy for introducing Eurocomach was to target ““Customers to whom primary brands had already been sold. We decided to try with customers already used to these state-of-the-art machines. The customers acted as our salesmen and by selling the first major machines we then sold the others.”

Dario opened the doors of his dealer to us and made us proud of the relationship built over the years. Looking forward to visiting our dealers, if you want to listen to the full interview, follow us on our Youtube

Training week for the development of technical-practical skills in the Cesena plant

During the month of August, the operators of the line 3 participated in a training course under the guidance of internal trainers and external providers. The 40-hour course alternated classroom training with online training and project work.

The quality theme and the continuous improvement in area manufacturing are the focus of these training courses designed for our production team.

Divided into groups, workers and workers have created small teams to deal with the resolution of several issues proposed by the trainers.

In the plant of Cesena the trainers have deepened the correct use of electric wrenches and screwdrivers together with the management of critical issues in the absence of these tools.

On this occasion, the production team had the opportunity to test themselves in the assembly of the new electric model brand Eurocomach: the 25X.

The goal is to continue to create and give space to these moments of training and growth for the whole Sampierana team already projected towards the future.

Women Academy

From 3 to 14 July we launched the Women Academy program in San Piero for nine women .

The idea was born from the desire to embrace the theme of em>diversity inclusion, , combined with the need to insert labor on the lines assembly in the headquarters of San Piero.

The girls involved in the project come from areas of expertise other than that of engineering, with main origin from the food industry.

Valeria Barilà, Head of Recruiter and Training in Sampierana, tells how the Women Academy project was born:

We noticed that the CVs received for production line positions were sent by women with a different work background than usual. At that point came the idea to start from those who had the will to get involved, preparing specific training programs. We have thus made available our staff and all the tools available to help new recruits to introduce their skills in a different field. In addition, we have also pursued another important objective: the enhancement of the resources present in the area.

The idea of creating a series of pre-work training aimed at women to convey knowledge and techniques related to the production of excavators has proven successful.

They are almost all local women, an added value for us and for the company that continues to offer possibilities to those who live in this territory through a continuous attention to the themes of diversity and inclusion.

Today the new colleagues have officially joined the Production team, starting a modern and innovative path for Sampierana.

We decided to tell the project through a series of interviews with the people involved that will be shared on our social channels.
