The Chain of Knowledge: Sampierana’s new women’s project

The Chain of Knowledge is the new project born in Sampierana that focuses on women and their ability to succeed in passing on know-how. Actually, the story of this project stems from a broader idea that has since evolved, in part, into a different form.

It all started in April 2025, when we initiated a short Academy structured to give new Sampierana recruits an introductory training course before arriving directly in the workplace.

The Academy has been structured as follows:

  • Planning a half-day assessment session for the evaluation of thirteen candidates through group exercises, practical tests, and individual interviews.
  • Selection of eight candidates chosen to attend a 3-day pre-employment training course.

The training course had three specific focuses:

  • Specific technical training conducted by Mariani Nicolas our Technical Trainer;
  • Security training;
  • Welcome on board and passive on-the-job shadowing, where each employee was assigned a buddy/tutor.

The eight candidates selected included five men and three women, and it was the latter who were the first protagonists of the project.

The title ‘Chain of Knowledge’ is intended to represent the transmission of knowledge and experience among the women working in the company.

The idea is to create a chain of people, where each woman is connected to the previous and the next, symbolising the transmission of knowledge.

Sampierana Progetto Donne

The objectives of the project are to bring out the knowledge and experience transmitted among women and to highlight their role and importance in the mechanical engineering sector.

Underlying it all is the desire and will to create a sense of community among working women.

Metrological Measurement Room and Physical Laboratory: The New Spaces at the San Piero Site

For a few months now, our San Piero in Bagno site has expanded its spaces thanks to the creation of the Metrological Measurement Room and the Physical Laboratory. The goal is to constantly improve daily work and to do so in a “tailor-made” environment.

This space, together with the Laboratory, will support ensuring the utmost precision and reliability of our earthmoving machines.

How and why was the idea for the metrological room born?

Among the reasons that led us to create the metrological measurement room are the pursuit of continuous improvement, technological innovation, and sustainability, in line with the “Breaking New Ground” principles of CNH Industrial.

Among the objectives we set ourselves:

  1. Precision and Reliability:to ensure that all measurements and analyses are carried out with the utmost precision, using equipment and methodologies that comply with international standards. To verify that our measurement systems, including assembly equipment, are reliable and traceable.
  2. Quality and Continuous Improvement: to ensure a constant improvement of measurement and analysis processes, based on feedback, performance review, and innovation.
  3. Metrological or Laboratory Controls: to carry out rigorous checks, where required, upon receipt of goods, for the approval of direct material supplies, as well as to provide support for diagnoses on the materials used by our machines, both preventively and reactively, all in compliance with ISO9001:2025.
  4. Sustainability: to adopt sustainable practices that minimize the environmental impact of laboratory operations and the measurement room.

The introduction of the metrological room responds not only to specific objectives but also to a series of quality strategies

  • Resource Management: by referring to a specific space, we ensure that all resources, including measuring equipment and laboratory devices, are available, maintained, and calibrated regularly. On the other hand, we are committed to ensuring that personnel have the necessary skills through continuous training.
  • Control and Monitoring: to implement control and monitoring systems to constantly evaluate and improve the performance of measurements and analyses. To use measuring instruments calibrated or verified according to international standards.
  • Work Environment: to create and maintain a work environment suitable for precise and reliable operations, including temperature, humidity, and cleanliness control.
  • Collaboration and Communication: to foster a collaborative work environment where effective communication and teamwork are encouraged and valued.

The commitment of the Sampierana Management is to provide the necessary resources to support continuous improvement and promote a quality-oriented work environment. In the coming months, the opening of the metrological room will be officially announced, an opportunity to inaugurate the result of this teamwork together.

Training week for the development of technical-practical skills in the Cesena plant

During the month of August, the operators of the line 3 participated in a training course under the guidance of internal trainers and external providers. The 40-hour course alternated classroom training with online training and project work.

The quality theme and the continuous improvement in area manufacturing are the focus of these training courses designed for our production team.

Divided into groups, workers and workers have created small teams to deal with the resolution of several issues proposed by the trainers.

In the plant of Cesena the trainers have deepened the correct use of electric wrenches and screwdrivers together with the management of critical issues in the absence of these tools.

On this occasion, the production team had the opportunity to test themselves in the assembly of the new electric model brand Eurocomach: the 25X.

The goal is to continue to create and give space to these moments of training and growth for the whole Sampierana team already projected towards the future.

CNH Industrial Cesena

Inauguration of CNH Cesena headquarters and San Piero Canteen

The new facility, thanks to major investments, will become strategic for the production of compact construction equipment, including electric mini-excavators. The inauguration follows that of the new canteen in San Piero in Bagno, which opened on Monday, June 26.

Turin, June 27, 2023 – A new CNH Industrial plant dedicated to the production of mini-excavators, up to 2 tons including electric models, and tracked skid steer loaders was inaugurated today in Cesena. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Vincenzo Colla, Assessor for Economic Development of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Enzo Lattuca, Mayor of Cesena and President of the Province of Forlì-Cesena, along with Stefano Pampalone, CNH Industrial Construction President and Federico Bullo, Head of Construction Europe.

At the inauguration, Stefano Pampalone announced a donation worth 500,000 euros to the Civil Defense, confirming the company’s commitment to the Cesena area and its closeness to the communities affected by the recent flooding.

Thanks to the acquisition of Sampierana Spa, which took place at the end of 2021, and CNH Industrial’s subsequent investments, the Cesena plant will be able to better manage the increase in production volumes, going to flank and support the historic headquarters in San Piero in Bagno, which with its 14,000 m2 houses the administrative offices, design, an R&D center specializing in electrification and the production of compact machines. A pole of excellence that as of yesterday also has a new canteen, inaugurated by CNH Industrial management in the presence of the deputy mayor of Bagno di Romagna, Enrico Spighi.

The industrial reality, strongly rooted in the area, now has over 400 employees between San Piero in Bagno and Cesena, 60 percent of whom are under 35 years of age; it also boasts an important allied industry and products that have always been a benchmark in the sector, appreciated internationally and exported worldwide under the CASE Construction Equipment, New Holland Construction and Eurocomach brands.

Vincenzo Colla declared:

em>Today’s inauguration represents an important investment for our region and has a strong symbolic value for this territory, ready to restart and compete with the world. The new plant, a center of excellence for compact machines in the construction sector, confirms the quality of our workforce, along with the vision of a large international group with strong territorial roots and an eye always turned toward the future.

Stephen Pampalone pointed out:

“Thanks to the skills, degree of innovation, passion and commitment of the people in Cesena and San Piero in Bagno, our strategy of international development and strengthening of the Construction segment in key markets cPampalone went on:ontinues.”

Pampalone went on:

“The start-up, just this month, of the new production line underscores the company’s commitment to the area and its closeness to the communities affected by the floods.”

Federico Bullo declared:

When it acquired this industrial entity in late 2021, CNH Industrial set out to grow it further by investing in technology, research and development, and, most importantly, in people. The inauguration of the canteen in San Piero and that of the Cesena plant are tangible proof of that commitment.”

The morning ended with a tour of the new plant and a presentation of machines, including the new fully electric 1.5-ton mini-excavator that carries forward CNH Industrial’s construction equipment electrification strategy and will soon be joined by the larger 2.5-ton model. The two models will cover the two most important segments of the market with a view to sustainability and reduced environmental impact.
